Just signed up. Hi, my name is Kurt. I did a lot of inline fitness skating in the 90's in Little Rock but put my skates up when the kids were born. Last spring, when my daughter took her Penny board out for a spin I decided to get the old K2's down from the attic and roll around the driveway. She laughed and asked, "dad! who does that?". Since that day I was addicted...again.
In June I bought a pair of Seba High Lights for the driveway and neighborhood roads. The 80mm wheels in the short AL frame compared to the K2's longer polymer frame - WOW! When I felt confident, I hit the local trails - Tucker Creek trail in Conway and the River Trail(s) in Little Rock. Kurt |

Hi all. Chris here, just joined. Currently living in Paris, France. When I was in college I had a pair of RollerBlade fitness skates, but got rid of them in 2014 because they were too big and I rarely used them. Just bought a pair of inline skates. I was on vacation in February and walked into a sporting goods store to find a pair of inline skates available for just 35 EUR (US $38). I had been wishing for a pair since last year, so when the fit, quality, and reviews seemed OK I snatched them up.
![]() I now own a pair Oxely Fit3. Surprisingly they are not terrible. ![]() I've been ice skating pretty regularly since about 2003, but never really crossed the line into to inline skating on a regular basis, because it's not quite the same. Now that my ice skates are in storage and I have wheels on my feet I'm learning that not the same can be a good thing. You have so much freedom on wheels to go explore the world. My biggest challenge is learning to handle big hills (I live at the top of one). For me, stopping on inline skates is much harder than on ice skates (it's very easy to get an ice skate to turn, scrape, and slide smoothly sideways). On blades I worry that the wheels will bite and I'll go over sideways. Anyway, I feel like I'm just at the beginning of a journey of learning to love skating with wheels. I decided to join the forum because I don't know much about how to maintain my skates and could really use some advice. Looking forward to learning for the experts. |

Hello everyone!
My name is Monika. At this moment in my life I’m living in Sydney, Australia. My home country is Lithuania; there I was practicing skate slalom over one year, before leaving the country. I’m still a beginner but keen on to learn much more. It’s a shame that here in Sydney I was on skates only for a few times (more than half a year ![]() I have SEBA TRIX 2 Deluxe with a rockered frame. Very beautiful ones. I hope to get helpful information/consultations about skating and skates and it would be wonderful to meet some people from Sydney to practice slalom with. |

Hello from Romania, living into a small city near Romanian-Bulgarian border, 60 km from capital Bucharest.
Freeskating week-ends in Bucharest and sometimes slalom skating in Ruse, Bulgaria (15 km of bicycle travel). Sometimes in the past street hockey in Ruse. Age 41, skating from age 25. Started with Bladerunner skates (by Rollerblade), then moving to Oxygen ATV7 skates. Next, Powerslide Cell skates, Rollerblade fitness skates, Rollerblade TRS Dowtown with Kizer Advance 4x80 mm frame, Seba FR1. Most recent skates, Powerslide Megacruiser 125 Pro. In the past 3-4 years the pavement in Bucharest getting better, making it good for freeskating. Slalom skating sometimes in Ruse, Bulgaria, the center of the city looks very good. Sometimes hockey in Ruse, at Lidl supermarket parking lot. Few people skating here, usually are just me and my girlfriend. Other problem is that our skating friends are getting older and we are not, only a few people can keep the pace with us. |

Hello- I'm new here and just wanted to introduce myself. I am a middle-aged mom living on the east coast and have a husband (skateboarder) and son, (ice skater and roller skater). I used to skate a LOT as a teen, but recently got back into it with my son and I can't get over how much fun I'm having.
I've recently added outdoor skating to the mix and am really looking forward to getting into the hobby more. Thanks for having me here! |

Hi All,
New on the forum here. From Belgium and doing a lot of skating these days. I did a lot of inline skating when I was 17-18 years old. Now 49, and 3 years ago I started inline skating again. Mainly SUV inline skating with poles. Disaster happened, when I tumbled over one day and broke my hip. And a DHS (Dynamic Hip Screw) was place. 12 weeks later I was skating again :-) The DHS has been removed January 2016, and last year I did manage to get 1850 km of skating on the clock. This year the counter is at 2200 km! Recently I have also started artistic quad skating just for fun ! wish me luck in learning that one :-) |

Hello world,
My name is Victoria and I am 16 I live in the USA (more specifically South Carolina) I've been inline skating since I was 11, I learned how to skate on a hand-me-down pair of Oxygen K2 inline skates and have recently upgraded to the Rollerblade RB80 Urban Inline Skates because apparently Oxygen doesn't exist anymore. The Rollerblade RB80 Urban Inline Skates are awesome because they're great for indoor and outdoor skating (but I mostly use them for indoor) I would recommend them to any skill level. I have also tried roller skating which I don't find as easy but I maybe want to start getting into roller derby so hopefully I get better. Thanks to the Forum administrators for letting me join!! |

Hi All. I'm new to all of his as I've only been skating since July. Three things happened within the space of a week which, combined, led me towards skating. 1. I injured my Achilles training for a half marathon. 2. I wore a part-borrowed costume which included inline skates for a fancy dress day at the school where I work (I'm a teacher) - and loved it. 3. A guy at my badminton club who plays roller hockey suggested I try training for a skating half marathon (low impact on the joints and all that). It was the best injury I ever had as I hated running but absolutely love skating. No exaggeration at all to say it seems to have given me a new lease of life.

Many here have an "old" lease on life. I started at 7 and never took a break. I'm 59 now. Quads, inlines, longboards, skateboards, speed, hockey, dance, slalom, inside, outside, whatever. Skating IS my life and many here are the same. You are in good hands here! Welcome!

I figured an introduction is in order.
Name is Rob and I'm in Colorado, USA. 55, haven't skated regularly in 8 years. I am an old skool Rink Rat of the highest order, my home rink was Skate City in Littleton CO where I skated from 2 weeks after it opened until I was 22 or so, so that is a ten-ish year spread. I lived in that rink, 3-4 nights a week plus a couple of afternoons unless it was ice hockey season, which I played at a competive level through high school. I was a competitive speed skater in Littleton for 5 of those years, I rolled on Reidell boots (don't recall the model, I want to say 265's-I remember the stripes) Cyclone S/A 45 degree plates until I got XK-4's and MetaFlex wheels. Many a love was gained and lost while skating to Peaches and Herb, The BeeGees, The Commodores etc. Anyways I continued to play ice hockey as an adult, kinda let the quads slip by aside from the occasional kids field trip and such. In 2008 I squished 3 disc's in my lower back at work and the Doc told me no more hockey. But I still have the itch to skate so I figured I would jump back on quads. Having a pair of 265's mated to a pair of S/A 45 degree XK-4's as we speak. I know, S/A is going the way of the dinosaur but I always loved the quick response and snappiness of the SA. Anyhoo- HOWDY ALL! |

From Houston, my kids age 7 and 9 have gotten me back into skating. They enjoy going and I need the exercise ha!
I started skating at about age 7 in the 1980's. My first rink I rember going to was Winkler Skate in Houston (I think that was the name). It was by I-45 and Winkler drive and was owned by the Wulfen's. As I got older, I started going to Almeda Skate, also owned by the Wulfen's. It was supposedly the largest rink in town, though I think Champion's might have been about the same size. I will admit, Almeda always did "feel" bigger than all the other rinks in town. I spent a big chunk of my teen years at Almeda Skate, joined the speed skating team and when I turned 15, started working at Alemda Skate. First checking coats and working the skate counter (the suck jobs). I then moved up to skate guard and eventually was DJ from 1989-1990. I'm still in touch with a few of the late 80's Almeda Skate crowd, including the Wulfen's sons. I've been skating at Champion's but plan to start checking out other rinks with the kids. I was surprised to see many of the same skating parts still being sold. I recently bought a pair of skates that are as close to the ones I skated with back in the late 80's, early 90's. 595 Riedell's Laser Plates (Yes, I was/am a Laser fan boy) Bones Swiss (couldn't find the Fafnir's I use to have) Power Plus (I had the Orange Lebada's, couldn't find that style anymore) I've ordered some yellow 83a cushions as the stock Laser one's seem way to rigid to me. I never ran wobbly trucks, but I did skate pretty loose. I can't for the life of me remember how I had my old Laser's setup. I'm in the process of trying to get my current skates to feel and skate like my old ones. So I'm sure I'll be posting another thread to get some advice. I've run into one member here from Champions, but can't remember their screen name. ![]() -Chad ![]() My skates (took the stopper off) ![]() |
