Beijing Weekly Street Skates (BWS)
In every Friday evening from April to November, a group of skaters collect at the starting point (normally the Square of Beijing Exhibition Hall, at Xizhimenwai Street, near the Beijing Zoo) and skate a predetermined route through the city. The starting time is normally on 19:30. It's a great way to take in the sights and see the city, as you can easily cover a lot of distance on your skates, but without going so fast as to miss much of the scenery. Skate is often accompanied by a sound system, which adds to the party atmosphere. And a photographer takes pictures for you. After each skate you may download your photos from BWS’ website. Routes are generally varied to take in a different part of the city. Most of the skates are about 15-20 km, and take between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the route. There are plenty of rest stops along the way. The skates normally finish back at the palace near the subway stations or night bus stops. website of BWS: http://www.0106666.com/viewthread.ph...ge%3D1#pid2038 Last edited by Johnxu; September 12th, 2007 at 03:54 AM. |

Hope they last, I'll be coming to Beijing sometime in about 5 years. I start Chinese lessons this fall with my oldest daughter, perhaps by the time of my visit I'll be able to communicate! I skated in Guangzhou in '04.

Hi KathieFry,
It is very nice to contact you via this forum, and would you please list Beijing night skates in your directory of regularly scheduled group skating? Though Beijing night skate is still in its primary stage, it is the lagest regularly scheduled group skate in China! thanks |

Ni hao!
When was this night skate started? I could not find infos about this when I went to Beijing in 2004. Can you check my information about skating in China (http://www.strub.ca/july-newsletter4.htm) if it is still correct? Xiexie Clemens PS May be we should continue via private messages outside this thread. |
