Ask DocSk8 (Expert Indoor Skate Building Advice) This forum is different then the other SkateLog forums in that it is not a discussion forum, but rather a place you can ask skate building expert Fred "DocSk8" Benjamin about building and repairing indoor speed, derby, and jamskate quad roller skates. Please start a new thread for each new question. |

I know this has been discussed before, but I am trying to replace the brass pivot cups in my reactors. I've tried heating them up. I've tried prying them out. I've tried removing them from the boot and poking them through the little hole in the back. No sure what to do next.
I've been messing with them for a week now. I thinking I need to mail them someplace or get out my drill and drill a big hole in the back. I'm ready to give up.

Interesting. As far as I am aware they were not epoxied into place like the Pro Lines. You should be able to tap them out using the small hole and the proper sized drift pin. NOTE: Tapping may be an understatement. If the cups are distorted in the hole, they may take more persuasion..... Like a bigger hammer. BTW. This method works on the epoxied in Pro Line cups as well.

Success! I bought a 6 piece pin punch set and the smallest one (1/16th) fit in the hole. It took some hammering, but they came out.
I then noticed the old cups were rounded on the bottom, but the new ones where not; so when I put the new ones in they do not sit flush. There is about a 16th on an inch sticking out. Do you see any issues with using them like that? Also, what grease to you recommend using inside the cups? Would 3 in One oil or Lithium grease be okay?
