HELP...7mm fine thread lock nuts

I just bought a magnum plate and it didnt come with lock nuts. After trying to find new lock nuts, I have found I am having trouble finding the proper nut to fit. I found the axle size is 7mm with a fine thread. all I can find is a corse thread. CAN ANYONE HELP!!

They are a 9/32 x 32 thread.

And if you're looking at the big box home places, quit now. They don't have them. You need to check a good old down home hardware store.

i get em from my local hardware store. They keep a small stock just for me

Seriously? We have a small local mom and pop hardware store near my house. The guy has just about any nut or bolt you could ever want.

most skating rinks and online skate retailers sell these if you can not find them locally.

Do not get the axle nuts (nylocks) that have grey nylon ...find the ones that have the yellow nylon they are undersized so that you can remove them many many more times without loss of holding power....

After looking high and low for 4 days.. All around Phoenix Arizona.. Mom and Pop Hardware Stores etc etc.. I found them at... The local skating rink!!! If they have rentals I bet they will have lock nuts that fit.. All I had to do was ask and I got to look through a HUGE coffee can of about 3000+... Best thing they were.. Free of charge!! After looking as long as I did, I would have paid $5 a piece if I had to!!

I know this is an old thread, but this may help others in the future.

Yes, the 7mm nuts are hard to find, and the ones you find in the hardware store are the wrong nuts for most skates, even most that are sold online.

This is because they are selling you automotive nuts and they are much taller nuts. The 7mm nuts are generally used on professional plates, all role-line plates are 7mm (the idea is smaller shaft, more steal in the baring for high impacts, jumps, etc.).

The tall automotive often "stop" before they get into the locking part of the nut.

They are available from roll-line (expensive, 2 bucks each) OR you can buy:

WOODYS LOCK NUTS- 7MM 48/PKG PART# NYL-5000

You will find them on ebay and Amazon, search for "WOODYS LOCK NUTS"
A good price is 48 for $15.00 bucks.

They are made for Snowmobile tracks, but are exactly the same as what roll-line sells. Only difference is they are not bright "gold plated" like roll-line's, but still gold color.

You can also buy WOODYS LOCK NUTS in other low profile sizes.

Again, automotive nuts are very easy to find, inexpensive, real skate nuts are low profile. Sometimes automotive nuts are just too tall and stop before they get to the locking part of the nut. Some people foolishly try to install them upside down.

Installing upside down is recommended if you have a nut that just comes off at the rink - and you want to roll until you find new nuts.

Thanks for the info on Roll Line replacement nuts, but I think this thread was about suregrip which is an SAE thread where roll line is metric. As Kennedy said suregrip is a 9/32 x 32 thread.

On the woody's page - "Notes: Once installed, lock nuts cannot be reused - Purchase replacement nuts." - yeah, that's what we all do
