I skate in a rink that is almost all black, out of 150 maybe 2 white dudes like me.
Now because this is a racial question let me first say this: I've never felt even remotely unwelcome, have made many, many friends there. I just feel like another skater in the skate family. In fact my observation is black people seem to be more social and friendly than white people. I love couples skate, dancing with the girls, treios, etc. I was wondering how does the average black woman feel about this? This is the only area I am not sure of. I'm shy anyway, this question makes it worse. Is it weird for her?, not cool? to be skating with the only white dude? Should I feel "funny" about asking black girls to dance? How do black woman feel in general about dancing with white men? To me I just see a girl to skate with, I really don't care. Any advice, how am I perceived there? Thanks!

Guessing your astrological sign is the crab, this conversation you've got going is sorta like watching a hermit crab walk sideways then enter from the back
![]() First, the rink you use, everyone skates while holding their junk. Then the proper etiquette to approach a female dance-skate partner. Now, well everyone at the rink is colored, how do you approach a partner? Obviously everyone is comfortable, if you insist on dancing the partner songs, just dance, a partner will join unless there's still more to the story? By getting on the floor during the couple's songs your intention will be polite and obvious. I'd advise not holding your junk while dancing solo during the couples songs. |

Just a little tidbit.
When you go onto the floor alone for the couples songs, rent some size 17 skates. |

Hahaaa. A lot of the teens and tweens here at my home rink do this and they looks like circus clowns skating around on the floor.
