Wait, what? You mean I have something to log??

So, after all this moving and stuff, I managed to pick up a new barbell. Guy at Garage-Gyms.com was raving about this American Barbell Stainless Steel WOD bar, and I was in the market for a bar at this price point. Review was spot on, that bar is amazing. Anyway, finally got to play with the new barbell over the weekend. Had hoped to skate Saturday, but spent all day replacing our main car... Yeah, so needed some stress relief. Got out to our stall garage, basically a garage door in a long building of garages where the parking spaces are not separated inside the building, put together the mats, busted out my bumpers and loaded the bar. Did a mix of stuff with no specific program. Dead lifts first, weighted from nothing up to all the weight I have, which was 205. Added some Romanian dead lifts for good measure. Then power cleans and front squats. Got the power clean and front squat up to 135, which is pretty close to my PR. Felt good to get back to the iron.

Rolled both days this weekend, and twice on Saturday. And today in the drizzle. Only missed one day in the past month and a half.

Just visiting.

Ankles just about 100% healed up from new skate heat molding / break-in process. Except for 2 sessions of sailing my longboard i have been strictly cycling to and from work. Plus the earlier darkness is messing me up.

Maybe tomorrow......or more excuses.

Got out to lift in the Stall Garage over the weekend again. Tried to add a little structure to these workouts, though I don't think they will be very frequent. Right now, I only have the bar and a 160lbs bumper set, so weight caps at 205 and increases in something like 20lbs increments with those weights. Also, lacking squat stands limits my options for squats, but making due.

Started with power clean to front squat x6 at 115 (check weight, 135 felt really heavy for these, but this was really light, so...), then hack squats x6 at 185 (test weight, not terribly heavy, form sucked, I hate these...); Dead lifts x8 at 205 (light for me but at my max weight so increasing reps working on form), RDLs x8 at 205 same as DLs. Did two sets of this with a set of 5 power cleans at 115 for technique in between. I struggle with getting under the bar and my catch still stinks. Me thinks I need coaching. Regardless, it will be an accessory move to permit me to do front squats for the moment. Otherwise, I am doing the dumb bell lifting routine, but I haven't tried it yet. Maybe this week. Maybe I will get to skate again some day soon...

Missed two days this week due to a deep thigh bruise. But every day other than that. Including today.

Saturday weights in the stall garage playing with what little weight I have and my new barbell.

Power clean to rack then a set of front squats 2x6 at 135
Hack squats (I hate these) 2x6 at 185 (need to go up reps)
RDLs 2x8 at 205
DLs 2x8 at 205

Solid fast lifts. This weight is all pretty light for me except for the front squats. I could probably pull closer to 200 on the hack squats, but don't have change plates. The DLs & RDLs are very light since my current 6 rep PR is 250, I haven't tested a 1rm, but it should be around 275. I need more weight, but really change plates. Hopefully soon, but the weather will keep me inside with the dumbbells soon. I hope I get to skate outdoor before the snow hits, otherwise I will have to find an indoor speed session somewhere.

I'm still here.

Skated ONCE this past month. A combination of minor but nagging injuries, and weather. I am 100% healed up now but the weather is awful. Tropical wave just came through and covered everything with tree branches and all of the Fall leaves, nuts, cones, etc. all at once. Another coming in a few days. And early darkness is working against me too. Bummer.

Just excuses. But wanted y'all to know I am still out here WANTING to skate some miles.

I got a couple of 6.3 mile sessions in a couple of weeks ago when the weather was nice. I also picked up another surface for a new slide board, which will be narrower than the other one so it will fit under the couch in our new and smaller living space. Hopefully temporary. House hunting is moving forward.
