Default Current skate songs good for skating...

We all know the classics - but what new releases are getting your roll on at the moment? What tracks get you on the rink without fail?

Techno(though they dont play any) Dubstep, some rap, remixes, and a crowded floor.

Good bass and tempo really. Songs genera doesn't matter, just carve to the beats.

Lights dubstep remix is nice, but there are some variants that are not as good.

Default So MUCH

Well by now Lots,

As Mort says for me it is the beat and it can even be Organ Skate from a 1950s long played song that still gets the young kids pumping. Yet for some they only like music they know from their generation.

I still get up and skate a great song.
Yet unless a true skater is DJ the songs can be duds.
And then for some Rap I need to follow someone..

One from Now. I do phone hand signs with this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWNaR-rxAic

We have done this a number of times and maybe t's time again. I don't remember all the new 2012 ones. Here is still one I like and used to skate crazy to almost falling. It is not on that often anymore.

who let the dogs out
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jF9GBR3B0LE

A couple others I remember as neat that could have been from the OutBack.

There is a Christian kind of Rap Song that is playing now, that is OK for the beat. Don't know the name yet it is OK in spots.

I love it when the Dj drops a bit of Skrillex or Knife party.

Can't dance to dubstep, even off skates ... love a lot of the steppers/JB stuff thats been out this year, and some R&B (though soulless autotuned stuff seems to be all that crops up at my local rink )

Default Is this DubStep

Hey UK People

Is this The DubStep that you speak.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXO-jKksQkM

Kind of Heel and then Toe and then more Toe with a Zombie approach to skating. It would be fun to see someone you all in the UK think is good at this thing that I do not believe I have ever seen. Now I might have yet under a different name or NO_name.

That is an awesome video. That went viral over here a few months ago.

That is the Dubstep we speak of..... I describe it to people as "transformers having sex!"

Default Would Like to See Skate DubStep

Hey UK and HK,

I would still like to see DubStep while skating done by someone good.

It might be fun to give it a GO even if I fail...

I have the Double Time Skate Tap mastered, yet it is not popular in my current Massachusetts area. Cross Foot forward heel tap on the straights and on the corners including doing it on the crossovers (Under Push per Armadillo). That is from my youth in the 1960s in PA

I have a Funny Back Side Bent Ankle Sloppy Tap that I copied from the Boston area Skaters. It is pretty nice looking yet easy.

I have a Continual Back Across, that is actually an Art Move. I really can't do this that well, unless I work IT, since I would need gal hips to move each foot over on the other side as one skates.

Anyway it would be fun to see this move on the Skate Floor.

I've not heard a rink here play full dubstep, just derivatives that have a solid beat. Lots of Jungle and Reggae though (which does work, though dancing to Jungle is tiring, lol)

At the weekender a few Americans looked pretty confused when the Brit DJ did a reggae set in the middle of the night

It doesn't have to be. Just do it at half tempo (works out about 80bpm).

I think we were skating clockwise at the time too (which didn't help matters) lol

Love it. Especially backwards.

Most dubstep we get played is lights remix, some skrillex and one or 2 other songs.

Fair point, I find that really difficult though ... also, yeah, always love a bit of clockwise rink time

Agreed on the "going the wrong way" bit, Wigan gets a lot quieter clockwise...

Though there is the issue with those who are less skilled, they tend to fall more and create hazards

Lol so true. Round here its because everyone trys to go backwards when we do clock wise direction(opposite direction). Most of the skaters here have favoured directions. There is a kid I teach techniques for speed to when hes there, but when it comes to opposite direction hes only 1/2 as good
