Hi everyone.Looking around the web I don't see muchh published information on how to train for inline marathons and other races.I have been lucky enough to be involved in this sport for 30 years and have interacted with some great coaches and in later years have been sucessful in making my own schedules for myself and others. Is there a need for this training advise same as what can easily be found for cycling and running for example.

Hey, Kiwimaster.
Sure, there's a need for it. The only thing that comes to mind is Barry Publow's 'Speed on Skates'. You have to admit, as old as that is, it still holds up to the test of time. Developing one's own plan is tough for a number of reasons. Outdoor inline has some unique challenges in that it is somewhat weather dependent, should include some group skating, and will invariably involve some level of cross-training, which will likely be unique to each individual. ANd precisely because inline speed skating is so technique dependent, an effective plan would need to take into account the individual's skill level. So a universal plan would be frankly hard to do. I just finished a very good read which has helped me refine my plan, "The Cyclist's Training Bible" by Joe Friehl. It was recommended to me by another skater, and i found it's general principles valuable. |

Train hard everyday and post about it in the "what did you do today" thread. It kinda feeds itself and its a dam handy resouce to track your progress.
Do you have endomondo or runkeeper? I use mine religiously. Good luck!
