If you have a facebook account, check out the basic skating or US speedskating pages. They often have great tips.

I like planks of different varieties. Try doing a planking challenge, where you do a little longer each day. It can be just adding one second per day, but it helps.

You can also cheat your abs by doing things like pull-ups, that engage your core more than you think. Just a handful of pull-ups usually warms my core, especially the obliques.

I also like bicycle kicks, where you lie on the floor and alternate kicking out while having your hand at the back of your neck and alternating touching the opposite elbow to your knee.
