Whereas July was bumping up against 600 miles, in August I didn't quite manage 500 miles. The difference: not much more that four days of skating. Maybe five given that July included a "double header" weekend. Fremont practice on Saturday followed by a full Canada Road.

The four days were allocated to the trip north to see the solar eclipse. Worth doing. Good seeing conditions, good photos, just too short. We actually had plans to do some skating on that trip in Redding. Unfortunately, the apocalyptic traffic post eclipse prevented us from even reaching our hotel in Redding. After a short night sleeping in the car in Klamath, neither of us were in the moon or condition to skate.

September should be more but still less than July owing to travel to the Northshore Inline Marathon. Fortunately, I haven't lost any skating to the incredible heat wave. Thursday was before. Friday I biked and deliberated left work late to reduce the effect. Tomorrow is expected to be much more reasonable: "only" low 90's. Manageable, but I will need to be careful.
