The new trail is part of the Leon Creek Greenway. The "trailhead" is accessed from Mainland (a right turn from Bandera coming from Loop 410); the entrance to the trailhead is just behind an apartment complex and adjacent to the WalMart Supercenter at 8030 Bandera Road, San Antonio 78250.
I skated part of this trail this morning ( only 90 degrees F or so at 9am). The trail all concrete, about 8 feet wide, very smooth except for the seams every 10 feet or so, and mostly clean with some pebbles and some vegetation on the concrete. I left the trailhead and headed south for about 3 miles and stopped where the trail reaches Grissom Road. I was told by several joggers that the trail extends south past Grissom Road. The trail winds along the creekbed and has several small hills but would be considered flat by experienced skaters. I then skated back to the trailhead.
The northern part of the trail is said to be more hilly but stretches all the way past Schnable park and continues to Prue Road (or further).
If the temp was lower I would have tried to northern part.
Thanks for the recon....
