Oh, and sometime in the last week or so, I crossed over the 5000 mile mark for the year. If November and December were like October, I could hit 6000. This is very unlikely, though as that would require 500 mile months for both. I don't think this has ever happened for either. Still, I will skate when I can.
Then again, never say never. Despite some weather, a strong November:

This is the first November on record with over 500 miles. Weather was an issue. A couple of Wednesday Night Skates were cut short. Last Sunday's big workout was washed out and my commute a couple of weeks ago was reduced. Still, I managed to put in enough extra cycling and even a bonus hike to take up much of the slack. Skate speed is down though. No more races or fast training and some my regular outings were slowed by slippery surfaces.

To reach 6000 miles for the year, I need 450 miles for December. That is not as tall an order as the 500 miles I projected last month but December is usually (always?) under 400 miles. The weather is the primary variable, of course. Oddly, it has been rather dry lately. It hasn't rained since last Sunday and I'm not showing any rain the forecast for the next ten days. It is good for skating but am concerned. I hope we are not headed back into another drought though I wouldn't mind if some of the senseless over-irrigation were curtailed. The roads and trails don't need water!
