I have a pair of vanilla jrs. I also have a pair of zingers. These work together but are sluggish . I wanted to try out back spins on our floor, seems to be the wheel with many promises here.... Lol, I like my atom omegas but the would not work ether. On this skate.

Very very loose and such a tight turn it stops ether itHits the plate or mounting screw.this is very agrivating. So.... I only have one or two ideas with stock setup. Add a thick washer between kingpin n plate or cut to extra cushions in half to place between plate n cushion on kingpin to act as a thicker cushion like a single action cushion...

Any other suggestions?

So yeah, put my money where my mouth is, and put together a wheel rolling resistance test rig. Agricultural engineering at it's most quick'n'dirty :D

It's an old Toyota Camry rear hub and brake disc. Mounted on a frame arc welded together from 25mm box section steel. The wheel (blue) here is mounted on a lever (black), which is weighted with a 3KG water bottle with ~5:1 leverage

The hub is spun up using a cordless drill with a 27mm socket on the stub axle nut. The spin down time is measured, and some maths later a wattage figure estimated.

The wheel rides on the drum part of the disc. It's not optimal in that's it's too small radius to simulate flat road, but it's a concession to practicality.

Need to automate the spin down measurement to get any modicum of accuracy. i.e. need a microcontroller measuring the RPM, but hey, job for another day.

I just bought one of these:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2X-Du...767977670.html

Not too much to say about it, other than it seems to work, and the price is certainly right.

That said, it seems to read about 3-4 points lower than the advertised durometer on most of the wheels I own. I don't think it's defective (it reads 99.5 on flat glass), but just that reflects that it's hard/impossible to get a real reading on small round objects.

Takes LR44/AG13 batteries, comes in a nice padded red case.

Arrived in 16 days via default China post/NZ post delivery option.

Edit: My technique needed refining. i.e. gotta press the meter hard enough into the wheel to flatten the area. Which is a not insignificant force. So accuracy is about 1 point lower than the values written on the wheels.

Hi, all! I´m sorry by my bad english.

My name it´s Paco from Spain (Europe) and my passion it´s quad speed skate. I´ve race on quads at national and international level from 1979 to 1993 (last years skating on Boen Special 170 and Chester CH20 Boots) and now I´m working on computer engineer area.

I´m working on 3D printer area and also I´ve access to a CNC machine and for this reason I thinking in reproduce Deano hub for combine my two passions (skating and computers) and I´ve some work with my little knowledge.

I only have four original Powell ® Primo Deano hub and one set of Super D´s (Scott) natural tires.

I done this new hub out of my computer work time because my entreprise allows me to use for free one little CNC machine, but I´ve pay all, all cost of plastic, electricity, etc...

For make this hub, in black Delrin, I´ve replace the original design of square holes by round holes, because I can´t make square holes in my CNC machine (see pictures)

I´ve put one set on eb*y to sell and recover a little my own investment.

I´ve only done five set (8 wheels/set) of new hub.

At this first version, called “V.1”, my new deano hub it´s about 9 gr up than original Deano hub, but I think could be lower a little with some work or adding more little hole between rounded holes.

After put this on eb*y, several people ask me about the idea of change space between bearing from original 10mm to 8mm to allow mounting in short clip/flip modern axles.

I think could be make easy this for V.2 version (next month)

Also ask me about make this hub on aluminum. I´ve make this hub in Delrin because I´ve easy access to this plastic than aluminum. I´ve buy a remain block for a plastic entreprise in my city but the idea it´s make this V.2 in aluminum. I think make this hub in ALU, could be increase the weight of hub.

If you have another idea or If you think isn´t good idea make this in ALU and it´s better plastic, I accept any suggestions.

Best regards.

In this pictures, you can see original Deano Hub square holes (to the right) and the New Deano Hub round holes, CNC machining in delrin and mounted with Super D´s ® tires (to the left)

I rounded up both of my kids (a rarity with 2 teenagers) and my beautiful mother (another rarity, as she hasn't been to the movies since the last startrek débuted) and we went to the IMAX 3d showing this past Friday night.

JUST as it was at it's most exciting, and Kirk was flying thru space in his spacesuit THE DAMN THING SHUT OFF AND THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS KICKED ON! We actually sat there in the dark and silence for about 10 seconds. The theatre was at capacity, and this one is in Quail Springs mall here in OKC. Now, as many of you know, we've had some wicked bad weather this past weekend. I got up to investigate, and the entire mall was dark.

Talk about spooky. I can assure you that the two ladies under my care were very happy that I'm a licensed CCW carrier. We made it to our car without further incidence I'm happy to report, but DAMMITT we still haven't seen how it ends and it was getting good!!!

Talk about your ......to be continued angst!

We thought about going back yesterday, but in hindsight glad we didn't as those tornadoes you guys have seen on the national news circuit today flew directly over that same mall again. They're supposed to return again today, and possibly tomorrow. Oh well, many Oklahomans didn't fare as luckily as we did and are in full scale salvage mode right now. Some lost all. Luckily only one fatality has been reported thus far, which in light of the devastation is a testament to our local weathermen and women.

I'm putting together a proposal for our league to host a 'roller disco' as a fundraiser and for insurance purposes just invite people from other leagues, or I guess other diciplines that are already insured through Skate Victoria.

We've got a few leagues within a couple of hours and our closest city (full of leagues) is about 2.5hrs away. So we'd be hoping to get some weekenders coming.

Because of our location, I was thinking of having the disco on the Saturday night at our training venue and then on the Sunday having some kind of a bootcamp. But instead of it being derby, I thought it would be interesting to try different diciplines. So we could have someone teach Jamskating, Roller Hockey, Artistic, speed etc etc. I'm thinking that if it's viable we could do it 4 times a year and each time have a different dicipline boot camp each time.

So my question is, would this interest you? Or am I on totally the wrong page thinking that derby skaters would be interested in trying something different for a day? I think that we'd all benefit from doing something different, but maybe that's just me haha.

I'd really really like to hear any feedback, suggestions etc.

Cheers :D

I got to try out some more of Scotts wheels today. Red SE 96. I tried some a while back but I suspect it was the VFH formula because the never did bite as well as I liked. The Red SEs did a nice job of hooking up. The floor has not been coated in a year and I could not get my anabolix to hook up there. But a change was made and now I got most of my grip back. So I ran three wheel sets today.
Floor conditions, not coated in about a year. Kinda dusty wood floor. Looser than normally found in the last 3 years.
Wheels
1. thin treaded White Shamans
2. trusty anabolix The Tire with thin tread
3. a set of red Super Enforcers made by Coreyskates.com nice tread, hardly worn in app 35 sessions, per owner.

The shamans never did grip the floor. No matter what I tried no traction to be found.
The anabolix and the Red SEs were about even. The anabolix and red SEs were even on traction. But since I was using the anabolix with worn tread the anabolix had better roll(reds had much more tread). I would say they are even on performance except the reds had about 35 sessions on them and the tread was in great shape. My anabolix tread was just about gone..
Gotta get some Scotts!!
Scotts in the 96a hardness will be my go to wheel as soon as I get some. :) May even have to get some softer ones for slower rougher surfaces too.
I skated the reds for most of the session, nice to be hooking up again...at the home rink!!

After watching the documentary "Gerson Miracle" which is about Dr. Max Gerson's cure for cancer. This is an organic vegetable based diet, that uses vegetable and fruit juices. Along with organic coffee enemas for liver detoxification. Having cured patients with Melanoma using his therapy Dr. Gerson wrote his book "A Cancer Therapy: Results of Fifty Cases". He finished this for the second time, the first was stolen when he was poisoned, having cured himself he re-wrote the book and finished it just before he has poisoned for a second time, from which he died. His youngest daughter Charlotte Gerson took up his work and had his book published. Due to the hostile out pour from the medical establishment she opened the Gerson Clinic in Mexico. For seventy years they have successfully treated cancer patients at the clinic. Many of these patients had already been told by their Doctors that they only had a short time to live.

Now I don't know and can't say anything about this other than what I've heard and read, I'm now reading "The Gerson Therapy" which will take a couple of weeks to get through. So far it's very interesting. What concerns we is the negative response from the medical establishment and the Cancer organizations. Who were responsible for removing Dr. Gerson medical license for practicing his therapy. They also banned it's use in America by any license doctor.

Whether there is merit in this treatment or not, what possible harm could come from placing patients on this diet while treating them for cancer. The very fact that they don't only leaves me to believe there is more than just merit to this diet. Since there is no money to be made from a vegetable based diet I am left to believe the medical establishment and the Pharmaceutical companies are trying to prevent this from coming to light.

This treatment is now becoming common practice in Japan and eastern Europe where they are curing patients with many different forms of cancer and still America does not allow the treatment of cancer by means of the Gerson Therapy within it's border by any medical doctor.

There are Doctors in the US that use a vegetable based diet to cure chronic heart disease and they to are under attack by the medical establishment. Now open heart surgery runs around $100,000.00 not including hospital time and a vegetable diet runs a few thousand dollars and no hospital time. Your health, your choice!
